Text Box: Text Box: The City of San Pablo has initiated major street improvements along 23rd Street & Church Lane. 
Street resurfacing, striping,  bike lanes,  bus pads, replacing damaged sidewalks, construction of decorative  walls and  installation of landscaping, trees, benches, trash cans, and other streetscape improvements will enhance travel for pedestrians and bicyclists as well as automobiles.  
This project is being undertaken in combination with façade improvements including upgrading storefronts replacing existing windows,  installing display windows,  new signs, lighting, parapets, awnings and other decorative work. 
The 23rd Street/Market Ave. intersection will  be reconfigured to be more pedestrian-friendly and crosswalks on 23rd Street at Richmond High School will be equipped with in-ground flashing

Text Box: The City of El Cerrito is currently undertaking several projects to stimulate the local economy; improve the non-motorized and transit transportation environment; and the overall aesthetics of San Pablo Avenue.   Following is a brief description projects  taking place in the city.
Bicycle Parking: Through a partnership with WCCTAC, the city will install bike racks at civic facilities and businesses/employment centers in the upcoming year.  The City is also considering a new zoning ordinance which includes Bicycle Parking requirements.
Ohlone Greenway:   The Ohlone Greenway is a Class I Multi-Use path that runs the length of the city underneath elevated BART tracks, just blocks from San Pablo Ave.  Several projects are  underway on the Greenway.
In September, the city  celebrated the grand opening of Baxter Creek Gateway Park and the extension of the Ohlone Greenway to San Pablo Avenue.  Richmond and El Cerrito are currently working together to plan how the path will connect with the Central Richmond Greenway.
With recently awarded Safe Routes to Transit funding, additional lighting, signage and surveillance cameras will soon be installed along the Greenway.
 In the upcoming year, the City will begin a community-planning process, to prepare for BART’s upcoming earthquake retrofit work as well as to plan future upgrades to the popular path.
